The Day Services Support Specialist II (DSSS II) facilitates community-based activities and provides support and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities participating in The Arc Baltimore’s Day Services program. The Day Services DSP is an important role, that maximizes community participation, inclusion and increased independence for people supported through planned outings and activities based on their interests, such as attending fitness classes, visiting museums, participating in art classes, as well as career exploration and employment- related skill building opportunities. The Day Services Support Specialist may work independently with one person or a group of people. This position often interacts with families and internal and external members of a supported person’s team.

Job Responsibilities
- Support people to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships. Ensure all people supported are treated with dignity and respect.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure successful participation in people’s activities of their choosing and achievement of their goals based on their Person-Centered
- Complete accurate and quality daily documentation and reporting related to supported individuals’ activities and goals progress.
- Provide personal care assistance as
- Participate in the development of Person-Centered Plans by communicating preferences, strengths, needs and barriers of persons supported to their
- Provide, monitor, and maintain a safe work
- Provide behavioral support and medication administration, if appropriate, per the supported person’s
- Drive an agency vehicle or your personal vehicle, as appropriate, to transport people supported to activities in the community or for agency related business as
- Ensure monthly vehicle logs, mileage forms (if applicable) are completed and turned in on schedule
- Complete and maintain all agency-required training per established
- Perform other duties as assigned by
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be independent and self-directed.
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license, clean driving record and three (3) or more years of driving
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required
Preferred:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Two (2) or more years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- CMT certification desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills necessary.
- Must work effectively within a team environment.
- Computer skills required.

Working Conditions
- Position requires frequent standing and
- Driving and transporting people receiving services is a significant in this position.
- The hours of operation for the position are Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:00pm. Schedule flexibility may be required based on business needs.
- Some lifting up to 50 lbs.
