The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live, work, and connect with their community.
Payroll management is critical to ensuring employees are compensated accurately and on time, fostering trust and satisfaction within the workforce. Effective payroll processes also ensure compliance with tax regulations and labor laws, protecting the organization from financial and legal risks.
The Assistant Payroll Manager for Self-Directed Services will support the Payroll Manager to provide leadership for Self-Directed Services Payroll team and facilitate a high level of customer service for all participant employers and employees. In partnership with the Payroll Manager, the Assistant Payroll Manager will ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, submission of payroll related reports, and payroll taxes. The Assistant Payroll Manager will oversee the Employee Change form and retroactive pay processes. The Assistant Payroll Manager will facilitate open communication with all stakeholders regarding program and internal policy and procedure and provide secondary customer service focus in the absence of the Senior Payroll Specialists.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in payroll processing and team management, with a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. They will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and a collaborative approach to coaching and supporting team members. The candidate will excel at providing responsive and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, possess strong technical expertise in payroll systems like Paycom, and remain adaptable in a dynamic environment. A commitment to accuracy, integrity, and fostering a positive team culture will be key to their success.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED and Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll with 2 years’ experience as a team leader or people and/or process manager is required.
