What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist, Self-Directed Services position at THE ARC CENTRAL CHESAPEAKE REGION?
Job Details
Description
The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live, work, and connect with their community.
For nearly 20 years The Arc has been providing Self-Directed Services to Marylanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities who choose to self-direct their lives. Today we support over 1600 participant employers enrolled statewide. The work we do directly supports employers with I/DD to exercise their budget and employer authority. Over the last two years The Arc has seen significant growth in Self-Directed Services and we are expanding our administrative capacity in our Payroll team to support processing bi-weekly employee payroll, employee status updates, and communicating with employees, employers, and their support teams regarding program requirements as well as internal policies and procedures.
The Payroll Specialist Self-Directed Services will be a key member of the Self-Directed Services team, performing a broad range of payroll review activities including timecard review, data entry and confirmation, and analysis of computer-generated data. This position reports to the Payroll Manager and works collaboratively with the Employee Relations Specialist as well as the AP, Financial Reporting, and Intake teams. If you have a penchant for problem-solving, providing professional and timely responses, and meeting deadlines, this is a position where you will thrive. Receiving and auditing paper timesheets, reviewing payroll data to ensure availability of funds and proper documentation, and staying in communication about employee status updates is all in a day’s work for our Payroll Specialist.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate the ability to work independently, determine priorities, and maintain a strong attention to detail. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, though a BS in business or human resources is preferred, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll or payroll related functions required. Knowledge and experience with Paycom is a plus, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other business technology tools will be essential. The position comes with an award-winning Total Rewards package. This is a remote position, but the candidate must be able to travel to our headquarters or other Maryland sites for monthly and quarterly meetings as needed.
