The Arc Mid-Hudson is a large human services agency with over 1200 employees, with locations across Ulster, Greene and Putnam counties. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) professional to join our fast-paced department. This position, a key member of our HR team - based in our offices in Kingston (Ulster County) and Carmel, NY (Putnam County) - will plan, organize, and direct designated aspects of the HR functions, primarily including recruitment, employee relations, unemployment benefits, EEO and DEI.
This is accomplished by the following responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Chief HR Officer (CHRO) implementing goals and objectives for the Human Resources Department. Review departmental performance in relation to established goals.
- Administering or overseeing the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, recruitment activities, disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; productivity, recognition, and morale.
- Making recommendations to the CHRO regarding possible changes and/or policies to effect continual improvement in the services provided and assist in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Reviewing concerns with CHRO related to potential staff disciplinary actions and terminations of employment.
- In coordination with the CHRO, oversee activities related to Unemployment (UI) including the coordination / representation at UI hearings.
- Back-up the HR Manager for Employee Relations in all Union-related and employee-related matters.
- In coordination with the CHRO, communicate with Union Representatives on work related matters.
- Conducting investigations as appropriate and review outcomes with the CHRO.
- Participating in the training and education of managers and supervisors of other departments relative to Human Resources policies and procedures. Provide guidance on policy interpretation, implementation of policy, and personnel actions.
- Acting with the highest level of integrity and in such manner as to carry out and promote the Agency’s mission, values, and Guiding Principles.
- Providing Agency representation, as required, in outside activities.
- Attending administrative/other meetings, as requested and required.
HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday/days, must have flexibility
STARTING SALARY: $ 68,670 to $ 80,000 per year
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least five years of human resource management, NYS OPWDD and Residential Administrative experience required.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, ability to work independently and with all levels of management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- Comfort level in using a computer, the internet, and HRMS systems are required.
- Exposure to or experience working with people in crisis or facing life challenges preferred.
- Requires travel to various work facilities and meetings.
- Flexible schedule to work outside of normal business hours to meet employee needs and to attend trainings and meetings.
- SHRM CP or SHRM SCP preferred with the expectation of achieving this certification.
- Previous experience in the field of developmental disabilities or health care with 24/7 operations required.
