Position Overview
The Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening the organization’s relationships with the community, enhancing services, and supporting Direct Service Professionals (DSPs). This dynamic position requires collaboration, communication, and a passion for empowering others.
Key Responsibilities
- Volunteer and Intern Management:
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers and interns.
- Develop meaningful volunteer and internship opportunities to align with The Arc's mission and programs.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer and intern participation.
- Community Engagement:
- Serve as a communication liaison between The Arc Services team and community engagement sites.
- Build relationships with community partners to expand opportunities for individuals with IDD.
- DSP Support and Site Visits:
- In partnership with Human Resources, regularly visit community engagement sites to ensure the provision of high-quality services, offering feedback and support to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to foster the best possible care and environment for both staff and those we serve.
- Provide coaching and feedback to DSPs to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Director of Transportation to support logistical needs for community activities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Services to align volunteer, intern, and DSP efforts with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Passion for The Arc's mission and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with IDD.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience coordinating volunteers or managing teams preferred.
- Familiarity with IDD services is a plus but not required.
