Education Requirements: High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in housing, with 2 years in an Occupancy Specialist role. Must have excellent communication and computer skills. Community organizing and public speaking experience is a plus. Knowledge of federal, state, and local housing programs and the development of HUD programs.
Experience and Responsibilities: The candidate must be a motivated team player, hardworking, and organized, as well as have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize their work, and be able to complete complex administrative tasks with a high level of professionalism. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities: The Arc of NC is hiring a qualified person to serve as our Housing Referral Coordinator. This person will receive all pre-applications, both through email and by office fax. They will be responsible for acknowledging receipt of and recording all pre-applications and follow-up with the applicant if there is additional information needed. The candidate will also monitor the Waitlist Management for all properties owned and/or managed by The Arc of NC. Responsible for processing all applications for all units owned and managed by The Arc, run existing Tenant Search Reports, perform all background checks for current applicants, send the notification of approval/denials, initiating the appeal committee when there is an appeal, and send Occupancy Specialist move-in paperwork after collecting tenant signatures. Must assist with Special Claims, by preparing all move-out paperwork, prepare weekly vacancy reports, and advertise open units using LME-MCO networks, NCCARE360 and NCHousingSearch.org.
