Summary : The Assistant Director performs a wide variety of tasks which are broad in scope, and involve many complex and significant variables. Assistant Director works according to standard agency policies and procedures and standard practices of the profession, exercising considerable independent judgment to supervise and direct assigned personnel, implement programs efficiently with limited resources and solve problems. Director makes a substantial contribution to the agency's mission by developing and supervising services while ensuring compliance with state, federal and agency rules and regulations. Assistant Director works with minimum supervision, referring to supervisor unusual or unprecedented situations, such as questions regarding budget or programs. Assistant Director works in conjunction with the Director to determine priorities and schedule, with work reviewed for soundness of judgment and appropriate supervision or direction of assigned operations.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies.
Creates processes and procedures that comply with State, Medicaid, and Waiver
Ensures accurate and proper documentation of services; ensures that services adhere to regulations.Trains, assists and directs supervisory personnel in preparing for local, state and federal reviews.Trains, assists and directs staff in following agency policy and procedures; manages quality of services from the direct line to ensure limited Corrective Action Plans are issued.Develop a workforce that fosters working through a continuum of services.Supervises assigned personnel, including interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, disciplining and terminating, reviewing and approving work schedules. Shall perform duties of absent personnel as needed.
Adheres to Easter Seals Arc Human Resources and EEO / AA Policies and performs other duties as assigned.Trains others in person centered program development, including behavioral, social, cognitive, daily living, communication, and life planning.Regularly completes home visits to interact with staff and people supported. Together with Director will complete home visit for each site at least once per quarter.Provides back up to on call QIDP’s after business hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Assists to cover open shifts when necessary.Available to call center after hours and on weekends to handle emergencies, help problem solve and provide approval according to department policiesManage and generate agency resources consciously and responsibly.Understands and maximizes all funding possibilities; combines tasks into efficient workflow to get more out of fewer resources.
Works with Business Office personnel to ensure appropriate utilization of resources.Determines appropriate staffing needs.Communicates ongoing with supervisory and direct line staff to improve staff engagement; plans and implements regular team building / development activitiesBuild community relationships and awareness through innovation and quality improvement.Serves as a liaison between Easter Seals Arc and community / region / state organizations and agencies.
Works in cooperation on marketing efforts; participates in community events to build awareness and relationships.Reviews programs regularly and recommends changes as appropriate.Works to develop an annual plan for the program areas and participates in agency planning process.Communicates with individual support teams; problem solve with team as issues ariseEnsure services provided are individualized.Collaborates with other Department Directors to provide an individualized and holistic approach to services offered.
Responds to crisis situations immediately and appropriately, participates in open on-call, provides crisis interventionEstablishes and maintains effective relationships with participants and other stakeholders.Gathers and evaluates feedback from participants and other stakeholders; recommends changes as appropriate based on feedback.Benefits :

At least 18 years of age.Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.3-5 years of experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities preferred.At least 2 years experience in supervisory role required.Demonstrated record of leadership experience preferred.Ability to understand and analyze income statements and other reports to manage daily operations.Experience managing Medicaid Waiver programs, ICF / IID or Vocational Rehabilitation preferred.Ability to pass criminal / registry background checks, A valid driver’s license & insuredAbility and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior and / or medical concerns.Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR / First Aid, Medication Administration and Positive Behavioral Support Training and other trainings as deemed necessary by the agency.Working Conditions : Assistant Director performs duties in a standard office environment. Assistant Director works with minimum supervision, both alone and with others in a team environment. Assistant Director frequently works on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure. Work may require moderate to heavy lifting. Assistant Director occasionally works extended hours, weekends and / or evenings, and occasionally travels out of town, sometimes overnight. Position does require direct client care if needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT- Work may require moderate to heavy lifting up to 75lbs while working with clients. Incumbent may work with violent / physically aggressive participants and responds to emergency situations involving potential physical harm to self and others.
