The Summer Work Program is a 6-week program funded by Vocational Rehabilitation that gives High School students the opportunity to work in a paid position of their choice to gain valuable hard and soft skills that will assist them for job readiness after graduation.
Must be available Monday-Friday from May 23rd – July 18th (Some variation depending on worksite)
**Must be available to work 6 weeks of the Summer Work plus 2 weeks of paid training before the program begins.
What is this job all about?
The Summer Work Job Coach is a temporary position with the Summer Work Experience Program(SWEP). Those hired will have the option to transfer to a different department after the SWEP ends (as available) or may choose to end their employment after the SWE program is completed.
In this position, your goal is to be a coach and mentor to students with disabilities as they take the first step in building job related skills and work experience to begin to develop their talents. The level of support varies from individual to individual, but the mission is the same: serve others so they can direct their own lives as independent, valued members of their community.
What will my day-to-day responsibilities look like?
A Summer Work Job Coach is responsible for overseeing the daily work tasks of the students at their assigned job site. Also, focusing on job readiness with the students through guided instruction and teaching of soft skills. This position will work alongside a group of 4 to 7 students at one of the Summer Work sites for 20 hours per week for a total of 6 weeks.
This position will be the employer’s main contact during the Summer Work Program to ensure students develop a natural support in the workplace.
What do I need to be successful in this position?

Be at least 18 years old

Must possess:

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

valid license, insurance and reliable means of transportation to and from the worksite daily.

Soft Skills such as: patience, punctuality, empathy, and good judgement

Strong interpersonal communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Must be able to:

Work in a variety of conditions and environments including indoors and outdoors

Use a variety of hand tools and cleaning chemicals. These will vary based on the site location.

Lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Stand for long periods of time, stoop, bend, walk on a variety of terrain

Work in heat and direct sun

Work experience with individuals with disabilities or social service background preferred but not required.

Definition
The Job Coach for Employment Solutions, a division of The Arc of the Ozarks, is the key player in providing services for our primary customer (an individual who has a disability) and our secondary customers (funding sources, families, employers, other service providers.) The Job Coach’s primary job is to assist individuals with disabilities with maintaining employment. This role includes supporting the individual through work samples (called community based assessments) in area businesses, assisting to connect the individual with community resources, assisting with transportation planning/ bus training, assisting with building and maintaining prevocational (soft) skills, , and ongoing coaching and retention support once they have accepted a job offer of their choosing.
The Job Coach will also be responsible for facilitating supports the individual needs at the worksite. This support can be provided one-on-one or in a group setting with up to 6 individuals. This does not replace the training offered by the business, but some individuals need additional support with developing work relationships, setting a routine, meeting timelines, and ensuring quality. Support may be provided on or off site and will involve a mixture of job sharing, hand over hand training, verbal cues and checklist training, depending on the needs of the individual receiving services.
As the individual becomes confident in their position, the Job Coach is responsible for planning a gradual fading process for one-on-one support, as well as developing a plan for long-term follow along support. This plan includes input from the individual, their employer, and all people on their support team.
Communication through the entire process is extremely important. The Job Coach is responsible for communication with their supervisors, the individual receiving services, funding sources, employers, and other members of the individuals support team. The Job Coach is also responsible for ensuring quality and satisfaction of all customers. The Job Coach will ask for feedback and suggestions from all parties involved through formal and informal methods

Prepare assessment reports, job development reports, intake paperwork, D&E reports, monthly reports, and job coaching summaries and submit these reports to Employment Specialist according to established timelines. |
Conduct and attend planning meetings and assist the individual in advocating their needs and desires for employment; working a flexible schedule in a variety of different environments to meet the support needs with client. |
