Program Specialist – Day Services/Vocational

We are seeking a dedicated Program Specialist – Day Services (Vocational) to join our team and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals.
Position Description:
This role serves as an advocate and hands-on team member, ensuring services are effectively facilitated through the development and implementation of Individual Plans (IP). The Program Specialist is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting independence for those we serve.
- Full-Time, non-exempt hourly position – 40 hours per week.
- Schedule is Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Pay rate of $19.16 per hour.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Models and reinforces customer service behaviors and Person-Centered Practice, aligning with The Arc of Washington County's core value of Person-Centered Thinking.
- Provides support, direct care, and guidance to individuals following their Annual Plan.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation of required and monthly paperwork.
- Responsible for support and training in daily care needs.
- Implements professional recommendations, including medical, behavioral, speech, occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), and sensory support.
- Attends annual planning meetings and contributes to their development.
- Implements annual outcomes, plans, and trainings while communicating progress.
- Encourages individuals to participate in community activities and recreation, providing necessary support.
- Encourages individuals to function as independently as possible.
- Ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
- Supports and respects individuals' relationships with family and friends.
- Actively participates in staff meetings.
- Continues to increase knowledge through research, agency-based training, and community-based conferences or training.
- Recognizes the responsibility to report any suspected abuse or neglect of individuals.
Position Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience with knowledge of the Individual Plan (IP) process.
- Valid driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience not including time on a learner’s permit AND a good driving record.
- Ability to provide direct care and implement proper physical interventions to ensure the health and safety of the people served.
- Ability to attend our new hire training Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM for the first three weeks and two days of employment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other computer software programs required.
- Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
- The successful candidate will need to pass a comprehensive background check which includes a state criminal history check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment health screenings including a drug screen and physical/ergonomic testing.
