The Archdiocese of Hartford is seeking an experienced Director of External Financial Services to oversee accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting across its parishes, schools, and other entities. This role will collaborate with pastors, principals, and executive directors to ensure sound financial management and reporting, improve operational efficiency, and enhance cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget Oversight: Review, analyze, and support school, parish, and entity budgets; providing guidance and ensuring compliance with financial procedures.
- Audit Coordination: Manage audits for entities, address findings, and improve internal controls.
- Financial Health Monitoring: Conduct assessments of entities in financial distress and develop strategies for improvement.
- Stakeholder Support: Serve as a financial advisor to pastors, parish staff, school and entity leaders, addressing financial questions and concerns.
- Reporting: Ensure timely submission of financial statements and compliance with fiscal requirements.
- Provide leadership, training, and support to downline; manages team of 5 employees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct experience is a plus).
- 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in nonprofit or education setting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- CT Driver’s License and willingness to travel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adaptable to change.
Working Environment:
This position requires flexibility, including occasional evening/weekend work and travel to parishes, schools, and entities.
