Teacher/Teacher Support Job Summary
Our teachers plan, organize, and implement a developmentally appropriate infant/toddler or pre-school program. Throughout the day, teachers and teacher assistants play with our kids, supervising them and working with them one-on-one and in groups using developmentally appropriate practices and resources. Teachers and their assistants use Brightwheel to aid in parent communication and involvement. Everyone at The Ark is a part of our strong team and works together to ensure each child and classroom has the support and resources needed to provide a fun, safe environment for children to learn and grow! We provide a fun, team atmosphere where we work hard together but have fun and grow as professionals!
Responsibilities and Duties
- Demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity of young children’s needs by providing a classroom environment that is conducive to both learning and fun.
- Provide a safe atmosphere for children to participate in.
- Incorporate creativity and sound judgment in the planning and presentation of age-appropriate materials, lessons, and activities, staying focused on the curriculum implemented in each classroom.
- Facilitate weekly themed lesson plans, actively lead and participate in daily activities.
- Maintain a balance between enjoying children and adeptly handling classroom management with appropriate discipline techniques. The Ark uses the Conscious Discipline method.
- Interact with other team members in a fun, friendly, professional, team manner.
- Demonstrate warmth and diplomacy in interactions with parents.
- Provide parents with feedback regarding their child’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth daily through BrightWheel, in person at pick-up/drop-off, and by attending parent-teacher conferences.
- Exhibit flexibility and capability to lead other classes in case of another teacher’s absence.
Facility
Ensure that the center and the classroom are clean and orderly at all times by putting away craft supplies and disinfecting and vacuuming/mopping daily. Also, make sure that the room is never cluttered or disorderly.
Qualifications and Skills

- Display patience, respect, and enthusiasm in working with children.
Standards and Qualifications
- College degree in early childhood preferred, 9 ECE credits required for Teachers. Teachers assistants just need a love for children and a willingness to learn and be mentored by our Mentor Teachers. A willingness to continue education for all support staff and Teacher Assistants is greatly encouraged.
- Experience in early childhood development/education. Love and devotion to young children.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid (must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary),
- State of NH required ProSolutions training completed, ability to obtain and maintain 18 professional development hours annually.
- Must pass a criminal background check and any randomly conducted drug testing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, prolonged periods of standing, and frequent bending and sitting on the floor with children. Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
