What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare/ Preschool Ministry Director position at The Ark Daycare & Preschool Ministry?
Responsibilities
- Provide vision, direction, oversight and guidance for all aspects of The Ark Daycare & Preschool Ministry
- Possess (or gain) a comprehensive knowledge of licensing guidelines, policies, and procedures; as well as overseeing the proper implementation of them at The Ark to ensure the best practices for Christian early childhood education are being followed
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff while monitoring educational programming for children of all ages (currently offering 8 daycare classes for infant/toddler/preschool-age, 2 pre-kindergarten classes, and 2 afterschool classes with a total of 24 staff/teachers and 100 students)
- Serve as the manager of the daycare/preschool day-to-day operations, communicating with and directly monitoring all staff and classrooms to ensure all classrooms are adequately covered for staff illnesses, breaks, etc. adhering to state child : staff ratios
- Communicate with families, staff, church and community, and other agencies as necessary for the preservation and growth of The Ark
- Ensure proper building maintenance and necessary supplies are available for operations
- Manage financial accounting for daycare operations
- Monitor, manage, and develop strategies to maintain adequate enrollment throughout The Ark’s programs and classes
- Plan and implement professional development for staff and volunteers
- Explore and implement fundraising programs and grant applications
- Foster relationships between families, staff, and church
- Meet regularly with The Ark Advisory Board
- Develop and oversee the operating budget, finances, and restricted funds for The Ark
- Network with other early childhood providers in the area, especially our Paths to Quality coach
- Preferred Education / Experience
- Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or Children's Ministry (or another field with 15 hours of documented content relating to the needs, skills, development, or teaching methods of children six or younger)
- Three years of teaching / children's ministry experience
- The ability to lead with integrity, resourcefulness, creativity, and strong organizational and planning skills. Possess team building skills, and must excel at listening and oral and written communication skills.
- Agree to live in harmony with the accepted standards and teachings of Middletown Church of the Nazarene. The Director of The Ark Daycare & Preschool Ministry is a member of the Church's Staff Ministry Team.
