What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Specialist position at The Armor Group, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY
This position is in charge of making sure shipments are accurately and securely prepared for shipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Create and coordinate all Domestic and Export documentation for all shipments leaving the facility
- Packing Slips – System generated and hand tickets
- Bills of Lading – system generated, hand tickets and third party supplied
- Prepares and ensures accuracy of Shipper letter of instructions
- Creates and ensures accuracy of Certificates of Instructions
- Creates special documentation as needed or required for proper shipments
- Communicate and coordinate with all freight companies and freight forwarders picking up freight
- RMA Processing
- Ability to determine specific truck needs based on freight requirements and destination requirements for:
- LTL
- FTL
- Parcel
- Dedicated
- Hotshot
- Flatbed
- Step Deck
- Double Drop
- Extended and Oversized
- Measuring dimensions and calculating weight and labeling items being shipped (location dependent)
- Coordinate with Armor Shop, Project Management, and Freight Companies all loading activites and shipment scheduling
- Coordinate shipping dock staff for pulling and prepping orders to ship
- Process shipped product in system, including tracking information and billing information
- Coordinate Armor trucking as needed
- Additional items as assigned by supervisor
PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
This position communicates with Project Management, Shop Managements, Oder Entry and Receiving on a daily basis and Frieght Companies and Freight Forwarders on an as needed basis.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous experience preferred
EQUIPMENT USED
This position will use a personal computer, telephone, copier, fork truck, and packaging supplies/tools.
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position will be working on the shipping dock, warehouse, and in an office environment.
