Collaborates with colleagues throughout the library to enable a positive library experience for all SAIC students and faculty. Responsible for evening and weekend supervision and closing duties.

Public Services:
- Night and weekend hours are required. Responsible for opening and/or closing the library punctually on assigned days.
- Assists in the management of all areas of Access Services, providing fast, accurate transactions in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner, respecting the confidentiality of records for all customers.
- Consistently models exemplary customer service, building positive relationships with students, faculty, and other library visitors in order to better understand and meet their library access needs.
- Assists library users in person, over the phone, by mail or e-mail, consistently modeling high standards for customer service that contribute to a welcoming atmosphere and a positive library experience for SAIC students and faculty.
- Assists with basic reference services and visitor assistance as needed, demonstrating engagement with and commitment to the educational mission of the School.
Access Services:
- Provides all circulation services to patrons, which includes management of course reserve services and management of interlibrary services via OCLC, interacting with other libraries and agencies as needed.
- Works closely with the Head of Research Access Services Librarian to formulate and review Access Services procedures and practices, striving to lower the barriers to successful research and learning experiences in the library.
- Understands and is able to effectively apply the principles of fair use as they pertain to interlibrary loan and reserves. Assists with copyright clearance as needed.
Other Duties:
- Assists in the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating a large team of student workers. Assists in the tracking and reporting of student Federal Work Study hours and expenditures.
- During evening hours assumes responsibility for supervision of Student Workers.
- Assists librarians and other library colleagues as needed.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: compiling statistical reports, ongoing record keeping, maintaining access to facilities and equipment, shelving and stacks maintenance; the general appearance/condition of public facilities and equipment, and general Collections Management.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Commitment to the educational mission of the School and respect for all members of the campus community.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent customer service skills
- Team-oriented management style
- Understanding of and ability to communicate the basic principles of library resource sharing, copyright and intellectual property issues for academic libraries, collection management and basic preservation concerns.
- Proficiency using integrated library systems (ILS) e.g. Alma/PrimoVE, OCLC, and/or other systems commonly employed in library access services preferred
Preferred:
- At least 2 years work experience in an academic library, especially at a school of art or design preferred
- Supervisory experience
- Experience working within a large-scale library consortium
- Degree(s) in the visual arts, architecture, or design
