Job Overview:
Ascot Homes is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, including journal entries, cash receipts, bank deposits, tax filings, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting internal and external stakeholders with accurate financial data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post accurate journal entries for all financial transactions.
- Cash Receipts/Bank Deposits: Record all incoming cash receipts and process bank deposits.
- Builders Risk Monthly Report: Prepare and maintain the Builders Risk monthly report.
- Vendor 1099 Processing: Manage the processing of 1099 forms for vendors.
- Sales and Use Tax Reports: File sales and use tax reports as required.
- House Settlements/COGS Clearing: Manage house settlements and clear Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Federal/State/Property Taxes: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and property tax regulations and submit accurate filings.
- Credit Card Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation of company credit cards.
- Bank Reconciliation: Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Monthly Financial Statements: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Intercompany Debt Reconciliation: Reconcile intercompany debts and ensure proper reporting.
- Fleet Management: Oversee the management and accounting of the company’s vehicle fleet.
- Vehicle Expense: Track and manage vehicle expenses and related costs.
- AR Invoicing and Tracking: Process accounts receivable invoices and track payments.
- Margin Reports: Prepare and review margin reports to assess financial performance.
- Monthly Inventory Tracking: Monitor and report on monthly inventory levels and costs.
- Lot Costs for Bank Loan Package: Prepare lot costs for bank loan documentation.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting (required)
- Data Analyst and Statistics courses are helpful
- CPA designation is desirable
- Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is essential
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting or 3 years in construction accounting
- Previous experience with construction-related financial reporting is a plus
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
