Description
MTConnect Institute, a subsidiary of the Association for Manufacturing Technology, is seeking a Developer Relations Manager to spearhead efforts to grow our developer community, increase adoption of the MTConnect standard, and enhance engagement with open-source contributors. The ideal candidate has expertise in manufacturing technology and open-source standards, with direct experience in the MTConnect standard being a strong plus. In this role, you will serve as a champion for MTConnect—advocating for the standard through technical content and events, fostering a vibrant developer community, and bridging the gap between software developers, manufacturing stakeholders, and standards organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Institute & Standards Management: Oversee the Institute’s management and standards development processes, including six month updates to the MTConnect standard, coordinating Standards Committee (SC) meetings, ANSI reporting and complience, and guiding various Working Groups.
· Community Growth Strategy: Develop and execute strategies to engage and expand the MTConnect developer community.
Evangelism & Advocacy: Advocate for MTConnect adoption through technical content, developer events, and active community engagement.
· Technical Content Creation: Create and deliver technical content (blog posts, tutorials, documentation) and maintain MTConnect.org WebSite that educates and inspires developers to use MTConnect.
· Events & Outreach: Organize and participate in conferences, workshops, and hackathons to promote the MTConnect standard and connect with developers.
· Community Bridge: Act as a bridge between developers, manufacturers, and standards organizations to facilitate collaboration and incorporate feedback from all stakeholders.
· Open-Source Contribution: Support and contribute to open-source projects related to MTConnect, mentoring external contributors and championing community-driven development.
· Partnership Development: Develop partnerships with industry leaders, companies, and organizations to drive broader adoption of the MTConnect standard.
Requirements
· Industry Experience: Proven experience in manufacturing technology, standards development, and open-source software projects.
· Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of the MTConnect standard (or similar open industrial standards) and its applications.
· Technical Background: Hands-on background in software development, APIs, or industrial automation systems.
· Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience in public speaking and technical content creation.
· Interpersonal Ability: Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with developers, manufacturers, and industry stakeholders at all levels.
· Community Leadership: Experience in event organization, developer advocacy, and/or community management, with a passion for building developer communities.
