The Barry Foundation
A local non-profit organization in Fargo, ND is seeking an experienced Accountant to work in the Fargo office. This role is ideal for a steady, proactive, and precise person who will pay close attention to detail and be able to effectively interpret, record and relay financial information for key stakeholders. This is a full-time exempt position.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting and Financial Reporting– Cash management, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, investment accounting, fixed assets, financial statements preparation, vendor maintenance, report development and maintenance in NetSuite Accounting system
Tax, Audit, and Compliance -Assist with tax related matters, including the completion of annual 990PF tax return, 1099 reports, basic tax forms and payments. Coordinate and prepare reports for annual audit. Implement standardization of policies, processes, and procedures to create continuity and consistency and effective internal controls.
Budget Process – Assist with compilation of the annual budget and beginning of the year accounting system update. Periodic budget review with applicable team members.
Human Resources – enter payroll and 401k biweekly, update health and dental insurance deduction amounts annually, coordinate annual insurance updates with third parties and perform staff updates in third party websites, other various human resource and employee benefits related activities for a team of less than ten employees.
Grant Reporting – Annual and periodic grant reporting and charts, reporting and evaluation of historical grant information and potential grant opportunities, reconciliation of reports in grant and accounting software
Board and Executive Support – Be knowledgeable of the legal/regulatory environment within the non-profit sector. Prepare documents for Finance Committee/Board Meetings. Other projects and duties as assigned.
Operations – Assist with maintenance of office subscriptions, inventory, supplies and back-up of other office operations.
Ambassadorial – Represent and assist the organization at various meetings and events, cultivate relationships with community partners and grantee, maintain positive and professional relationships with colleagues and management.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting required or equivalent 2-year Accounting Degree and in-depth work experience combination.
- Preferred 2 years work experience or more with an emphasis on accounts payable, general ledger, and financial statement preparation.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail in a confidential and conscientious manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines and reliable and consistent attendance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and various technology software and systems. Oracle NetSuite accounting software or similar software experience highly desired.
