Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Counselors to join our team for the summer camp programs at Clara Barton Camp in North Oxford, MA, Camp Joslin in Charlton, MA, a traveling day camp, and Vermont Overnight Camp. The ideal candidates will provide support and guidance to individuals facing various challenges, including diabetic treatment, chronic pain, mental health issues, and behavioral health concerns.
As a Healthcare Counselor, you will work directly under the supervision of the Charge Nurse to assist in the smooth operation of the infirmary/health care center. Your role will include offering basic health care and facilitating educational sessions for campers. We are looking to hire nursing students, recent nursing graduates, and RNs to form a full health care team dedicated to caring for our campers, the majority of whom have type 1 diabetes and require assistance with their complex medical needs.
Candidates may include nursing students, PA students, medical students, EMTs, CNAs, RN's or experienced members of the camp staff who have demonstrated the necessary knowledge and skills for this role.
All Counselors are provided with on camp housing and meals.
Responsibilities
- Blood sugar checks
- Administration of insulin before each meal and snack
- Use electronic charting systems
- Medication administration
- Treat minor injuries
- Treat behavioral issues
Qualifications
- Have at least one semester of clinical experience
- Must have current First Aid and CPR certification
- Detail oriented
- Understanding of special education principles is beneficial
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining medical records and documentation
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
