What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Assistant position at The Basement Doctor?
The primary role of the Warehouse Assistant includes the receiving and processing of incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, and managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Must be forklift certified. This is a full-time, 6 month contract with Nash Distribution.
Responsibilities
- Collect packing slips for every order from the Order Fulfillment team electronically.
- Pack products in an optimal manner and prepare them for shipping.
- Transports pallets to the loading dock to be picked up by freight carriers.
- Helps load packages into freight and small package trucks.
- Prepares local orders for pickup.
- Unloads incoming materials from suppliers and stocks warehouse.
- Assists in counting inventory for monthly inventory reconciliation.
- Assist in the upkeep of the warehouse, by keeping it organized, clean, and safe while utilizing space efficiently.
- Maintain offices, restroom areas, and areas outside of the building designated for our facility.
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment and facility, as abilities will allow.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competences
- Capacity to work with various types of warehouse equipment.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, and lift products of 50 lbs. or more overhead.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Results-orientated.
- Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities.
- Exhibits strong work ethic.
- Adept at packing products efficiently.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications; experience working in an inventory management database.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of warehouse and order fulfillment experience.
- 1 years of Microsoft Office experience.
- Valid Forklift Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the warehouse site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally performed in outside weather conditions
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with up to 40 hours or more per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
