Greater Central New York Area Director
Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Eastern Division, the Greater Central New York Area Director is responsible for implementing AFSP’s fundraising and program initiatives within the assigned market area and working with the chapter(s) in that area. The Area Director will work from a home-based office in the market service area.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement AFSP Out of the Darkness Community Walks and other approved fundraising within the assigned market, including additional fundraising events.
- Implement approved programs within the market area including survivor programs, education programs, and awareness initiatives.
- Responsible for the development and support of the Chapter Board and committees within the market.
- In conjunction with the Chapter Board, develop a business plan and budget for the market area.
- Responsible for volunteer management, including recruiting, training, assigning, and recognizing volunteers within the market.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote AFSP’s message, build support for the mission, and increase involvement in AFSP events and programs.
- Work with media to publicize AFSP events and mission to heighten public awareness and reach fundraising goals.
- Responsible for fiscal management, including relationships with vendors, handling cash, expense management, and working with the National Office on accounts payable and receivables.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in nonprofit special event fundraising.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Strong public speaking skills. Ability to travel as needed to attend work meetings or events.

Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
