Primary Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to fabricate metal parts.
- Operate tools such as saws, grinders, drills, and cutting torches to cut and shape metal materials.
- Weld components together using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding.
- Perform basic fabrication tasks such as bending, drilling, tapping, and grinding metal parts.
- Inspect fabricated parts for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of materials and tools.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines.
- Assist in the setup and operation of machinery and equipment in the fabrication shop.
- Communicate any issues or concerns regarding fabrication processes to supervisors.
Secondary Duties:
- Maintain and repair tooling and dies used in the fabrication process to ensure proper function and extend their lifespan.
- Conduct visual inspections of fabricated parts to ensure they meet quality and specifications standards.
- Receive, store, and transport materials, tools, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Set up and operate various machines, such as lathes, grinders, saws, and presses, to fabricate parts.
- Use precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet specifications and conduct simple tests to verify part functionality.
- Repair or rework defective or damaged parts to meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning equipment, tools, and surrounding spaces.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking material usage, reporting stock levels, and ordering supplies as needed.
- Work with other departments, such as engineering, purchasing, and quality assurance to ensure smooth production processes.
- Troubleshoot minor issues with machines or equipment and perform simple repairs or adjustments to resolve problems.
Required Skills:
- Understanding of various fabrication techniques, such as cutting, shaping, forming, and assembling materials.
- Welding and Fabrication Experience is required
- Ability to operate various machines and equipment, such as lathes, grinders, saws, presses, and welding machines.
- Ability to accurately measure parts and materials using precision tools and instruments.
- Ability to identify different materials, including metals, plastics, and other composites.
- Basic knowledge of welding and brazing techniques and ability to perform simple welding and brazing tasks.
- Proficiency with hand tools, such as hammers, wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers.
- Basic understanding of CAD software and ability to read and interpret designs.
