Job Overview :

All referrals related to Behavioral Medicine and Chemical Dependency admissions are handled either in person or over the phone. The goal is to gather and assess all necessary information to swiftly complete the registration process while ensuring that patients are informed about hospital policies and procedures. This role also involves collaborating with various departments within the facility and the Philadelphia Substance Abuse System to facilitate admissions. Additionally, it includes transporting employees, patients, and lab specimens as required.

Job Responsibilities :

Accurately enters all registration information into the hospital computer system.

Answer all calls as quickly as possible.

Verify patient's insurance coverage via Insurance Cards, Promise, Veritus, NaviNet or other appropriate means.

Always obtains signatures or documents reason signature was not obtained.

Informs the patient of discrepancies and calls the managed care company when necessary.

Initiates and follows up on third-party insurance coverage for eligible patients and prospective admissions.

Demonstrates an understanding of the confidentiality laws (HIPPA, 42CFR and PA 255.5) and takes steps to ensure that patients' rights to confidentiality are upheld.

Provide transportation for patients to and from the Behavioral Access Center (BAC) for admission.

Inputs all handwritten charts into computer accurately, efficiently, and as soon as possible.

Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle demanding situations with patients, families, and physicians by remaining calm.

Becomes cross-trained within the Access areas.

Communicates clearly and understandably using appropriate communication techniques for the patient's age in relation to service.

Always represents the department and hospital in a positive manner.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

High school diploma with two years' experience in assessment, placement, healthcare and or admissions will be considered.

Associate degree preferred with knowledge of addictive disease, its progression and appropriate treatment and placement levels.

Previous registration or admission experience preferred.

Bilingual capabilities (English / Spanish) a plus.

Must possess a valid driver's license, clean driving record for three years without a DUI conviction for five years, and current automobile Insurance.

May be required to pass a driving skill test with Supervisor / Director or designee.
