Job Overview:
The Outreach & Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in promoting the programs and services of The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard to potential referral sources. This position focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with D A providers, assessment sites, and the local community, aiming to establish new patient referral connections for the facility. It involves actively engaging with the community and having direct interactions with individuals in need of D A services. Additionally, the specialist will be tasked with creating and implementing strategies to meet budgetary objectives, especially in terms of expanding referral sources.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop relationships with the community at large to inform them of the services offered at The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard.
- Developing and sustaining a positive relationship with the drug and alcohol providers and assessment sites
- Provide transportation to individuals who are seeking drug and alcohol services to The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard.
- Transport clients to medical, legal and social activities
- Answer phones and take messages
- Conduct monthly follow-up on consumers who have completed treatment for 1 year
- Create and implement outreach strategies to ensure the success of the organization
- One on one contact with individuals seeking drug and alcohol services
- Advocating on behalf of clients and/or supporting them to advocate for themselves
- Collaboration and co-ordination of services with appropriate community agency
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or an equivalent credential, along with twelve (12) college credits in Behavioral Health, Human Services, or Marketing. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is essential, as is a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals struggling with addiction. Proficiency in computer skills and strong de-escalation abilities are also required.
An associate's degree or higher in a Behavioral Health-related field, or a degree in Marketing combined with two (2) years of experience in Behavioral Health or Human Services, is preferred. Experience in marketing within the human services sector, particularly in Substance Abuse Treatment, and prior outreach and engagement experience, is desirable. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are an added advantage. Certified Peer or Recovery Specialists are encouraged to submit their applications.
