What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at The Beistle Company?
Summary: Support cost accounting and inventory functions by performing the following duties:
Cost Accounting Duties and Responsibilities:
· Builds BOMs/Calculates costs.
· Sets up configurator for certain items in Syteline.
· Makes changes in Item and Job BOM’s such as outputs, materials and manufacturing methods.
· Applies scheduled and completed revisions in BOM’s as requested by Art/Sales/Production and as a result of studies.
· Updates the BOM Building Procedures.
· Creates reports/spreadsheets for comparisons on labor operations, raw materials and changes.
· Complete raw material usage studies as needed.
· Review completed job orders on a daily basis.
· Performs work center studies and present results to operations department.
· Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on costs.
· Records and compiles cost information for use in reports as requested by the upper management or other departments: factors affecting costs and profitability.
· Performs all other cost accounting duties assigned by supervision.
· Follows all safety procedural guidelines.
Inventory Duties and Responsibilities:
· Processes and analyzes the cycle counts and runs the corresponding adjustments daily. Performs Raw Material, Sub-Assembly/Bulk inventory when necessary.
· Monitors items that are marked Obsolete or Slow Moving on a daily basis.
· Prepare Consignment inventory reconciliation.
· Complete monthly inventory summary for Finished Goods and Raw Materials.
· Reviews previous months’ and monthly item loads.
· Determines: 1) items with negative/small-fraction inventories in work centers; 2) sub-assemblies/raw materials in the stock location; and 3) non-nettable stock.
· Assist with annual inventory observation associated with year-end audit.
· Performs all other inventory duties assigned by supervision.
· Follows all safety procedural guidelines.
