The Benjamin School

At The Benjamin School, we believe that the best educators set high standards for their students and then do everything they can to help them achieve those standards. We are looking for educators who will help our students become self-directed, independent young adults with superior academic, extracurricular, athletic, and life skills.

Our students are talented young men and women with a diversity of interests; one coach’s program will not be the only commitment they have. Our best faculty members understand the multitude of interests our students possess and work to help them balance these interests in a way that allows them to realize successes, manage setbacks, and continue to move forward with a growth mindset. Our students are very bright and will not simply follow leaders blindly; coaches must be able to articulate clearly and compellingly why they set up their programs as they do. Two tenets that the school follows closely are, first, that to gain respect, one must extend respect, and, second, that we seek to develop the whole person. As a result, we work hard to balance all areas of school life and refrain from giving any one program more agency than another. Faculty members who understand and support these tenets are able to make lasting impacts.

Major Responsibilities Of The Position

The Head Basketball Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Directors in accordance with The Benjamin School’s mission. The Head Basketball Coach must develop and implement a high-quality basketball program that stresses teamwork and sportsmanship. The individual will be responsible for training student-athletes, preparing them for interscholastic competition, and developing their athletic skills at a highly competitive level. In addition, the individual will oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including player development, team management, and program administration.

  • This is a part-time stipend position. However, if a teaching position opens that aligns with the candidate's experience there could be an opportunity for full-time employment.
