The Berkeley Retirement Home and Nursing Center is looking for a passionate food service Director/Cook to make great food for our senior residents in our 40-bed facility.
To be successful in this role you should have a strong background in food service management, experience in a health care setting as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
Job Description: As a food service Director/Cook in our facility, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the food service program. This includes menu planning, food preparation, ordering supplies, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents while also taking into account individual dietary requirements and preferences.
- Manage food production, including ordering supplies, preparing meals, and ensuring timely delivery to residents.
- Oversee inventory management, including tracking food and supply usage, conducting regular inventory counts, and ensuring adequate levels of supplies are maintained.
- Develop and manage the food service budget, ensuring expenses are within budgetary constraints.
- Hire, train, and supervise food service staff, ensuring they are competent and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain SafeServ Manager certification and ensure all employee-owners stay certified where required.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, including sanitation standards, infection control practices, and state and federal regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment is in good working order and adhering to established safety protocols.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to improve the overall quality of the food service department and resident satisfaction.
- Monitor and resolve resident complaints
- Responsible for scheduling all Kitchen employees
- Collaborate with other departments within the facility to ensure the provision of high-quality resident care
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
