Position Overview
The Instructional Coach supports K-5 teachers in implementing curriculum and instructional strategies, including CKLA, Heggarty, UFLI, HMH, and i-Ready. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, bring joy to teaching, and be able to collaborate effectively with teachers to enhance classroom management, behavior strategies, and overall student success. This position will also involve actively contributing to the school’s Professional Learning Communities (PLC), assisting with data review, and supporting the continuous improvement of teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Support: Provide guidance and support to K-5 teachers in effectively implementing curriculum, including CKLA, Heggarty, UFLI, HMH, and i-Ready assessments, ensuring fidelity to program protocols and maximizing student engagement and growth.
- Teacher Coaching: Collaborate with teachers to improve instructional practices by offering personalized coaching, modeling lessons, and co-teaching to build confidence and enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Classroom Management & Behavior Strategies: Support teachers in developing and implementing effective classroom management and behavior strategies, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
- Growth Mindset & Joy in Teaching: Foster a growth mindset in both teachers and students, encouraging the belief that all learners can achieve success through perseverance, reflection, and hard work. Bring joy, creativity, and enthusiasm to the teaching process, inspiring teachers to maintain high engagement levels.
- Data Review & Analysis: Lead and facilitate regular data review sessions as part of the Professional Learning Community (PLC), helping teachers analyze student progress, identify growth areas, and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
- Professional Development: Provide ongoing professional development to staff on best practices in literacy and math instruction, including new strategies, tools, and resources to support student success.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive, effective approach to teaching and learning across all grade levels
- Model Best Practices: Serve as a role model of excellent instructional practices, including the effective use of technology, differentiation, and personalized learning, while maintaining a positive, supportive relationship with all staff members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education(Master’s degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certification in Elementary Education (K-5)
- Strong knowledge and experience with CKLA, Heggarty, UFLI, HMH, i-Ready, and other evidence-based educational tools and curricula
- Proven experience as a classroom teacher (K-5), with a deep understanding of effective instructional strategies and student-centered learning
- Strong ability to coach and mentor teachers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and strategies for promoting positive student behavior
- A growth mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
- Passion for inspiring and supporting others in their teaching journey and bringing joy to the learning process
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, dynamic school environment
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a school environment with students and staff
- Frequent use of computer systems, phones, and other office equipment
- Occasional lifting of supplies or materials (up to 25 lbs)
- Ability to move between classrooms, the Anchor Room, and various school areas
