Position Summary:
The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of the Branch and the staff and must ensure implementation of policies and procedures to achieve company objectives. The Branch Manager must be an advocate for the bank within their respective communities, proactively marketing the bank to attract business. This individual should identify and meet the needs of the bank’s existing and prospective customers and is ultimately responsible for all functions of the branch.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Manage all aspects of the Branch including staff, customers, and facilities.
- Train, coach, and develop staff.
- Create a team atmosphere within the branch, between branches, and between departments.
- Develop and maintain banking relationships with potential clients, existing customers, and community organizations.
- Assist in developing and maintaining an engaged and accountable team.
- Assist in ensuring the staff are following proper procedures and guidelines set forth by the bank.
- Represent the bank in public relations activities and community events.
- Become an active member of the community, volunteering and participating in the local chamber of commerce, service clubs, non-profit organizations, schools and boards as available.
- Maintain (with management and vendor support) the branch facility and grounds.
- Review and reconcile branch cash general ledgers.
- Perform quarterly surprise cash counts and ensure vacation and offage audits are completed.
- Ensure all branch supplies are ordered.
- Decision, process, and track all fee refund requests up to $500 according to guidelines.
- Oversee the weekly work schedule of the branch team members.
- Customer Service: new account opening, account/customer maintenance, consumer lending applications, notarizations, digital banking navigation assistance, debit card maintenance, fraud resolution, etc.
- Incoming phone call fielding and assistance including shared extensions.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring new team members.
- Recognize team members for their contributions and accomplishments regularly.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, with a focus in business, finance, or related field (Preferred)
- 5 years’ experience in financial institution customer service or managerial role
- Proven ability to lead a team and drive business development
- Excellent verbal and written communication to interact effectively with customers, staff, and upper management
- Understanding of financial principles, banking practices, and industry regulations
- Strong customer service skills to build relationships and resolve issues
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
