The Black Dog Bakery Café is seeking a full-time, year-round Day Baker to join our team
Day Baker Qualifications
- Must have at least three years’ experience baking in a commercial setting
- Must be knowledgeable in a variety of baking techniques
- Actively support a culture of safety which includes food safety, team member safety and customer safety
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of product consistency; good note taking skills
- Ability to read and follow a written recipe; understand and follow verbal direction
- Understand and utilize basic weights and measures (using the US standard-Imperial system)
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management; strong team player
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work days and weekends
- Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs., and ability to push 150 to 250 lbs. on a rolling dolly
- Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, walk frequently, bend, squat or reach

Day Baker Job Responsibilities
- Measure, mix, and bake a variety of different doughs, batters, fillings, and frostings according to both written and verbal instruction
- Shape, form, and finish a variety of bakery products including pie shells and pies, cookies, brownies, granola, and quick breads
- Cross training may be provided to the right candidate on “finish baking” in the pastry room including cake assembly and decoration, and assembly and finishing of pastries for the bakery case and special orders
- Prepare products for sale including labeling, packaging, sealing, and dating product
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area; wipe down all counters and equipment

The Black Dog Bakery Café, newly renovated, offers a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. We offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a full beer and wine menu. In addition, the Café also serves homemade-from-scratch pastries, desserts, cookies, cakes, pies, and more. Enjoy an espresso or specialty coffee to complement our famous baked goods.
