Director of Nursing
A local behavioral health care facility is seeking a registered nurse for a Director of Nursing position.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Preferred.
Master’s degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing or in other health related field, such as nursing administration, education, or psychology also preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Two (2) years’ or greater DON experience required.
Three (3) years’ experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred.
Two (2) years’ experience in management, leadership positions required.
Must possess good communication skills to relate to all levels of facility staff and be self-motivated, ambitious and goal oriented to encourage and motivate staff to meet department objectives. Preferably, be familiar with standards of State and Federal regulations and other regulatory and accrediting organizations and agencies to ensure compliance.
The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing effective leadership, management and supervision of nursing staff in the delivery of nursing care and treatment of patients. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Nursing, will work closely with Administrator, Medical Director, Clinical Director, and other Directors in the decision-making process to provide optimal management of the facility. Duties will include knowledge of the organization and function of the facility; and coordinate the development of an effective ongoing program to measure, analyze and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment and services.
