Position Summary:
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor.
Job Duties:
This position has a workload distribution of 60% teaching (3-3 teaching load), 20% professional activity, and 20% service. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate potential for teaching excellence in traditional and online settings, developing and maintaining an active research agenda, and participating in department, college, and community service activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or a closely related field is expected. ABDs will be considered. The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate level classes is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with research and teaching interests in courts, policing, cybercrime, victim studies, diversity and ethics in criminal justice, and applied analysis for criminal justice. The desired applicant will have potential to teach both online and in-person university-level classes, possess membership in professional organizations, demonstrate potential in research and/or grant writing, and highlight evidence of service. In addition, the candidate must highlight evidence of diversity in their teaching practices. Each of the items above should be identified in the applicant’s cover letter. A research statement should also be included to identify the applicant’s research agenda they wish to implement as an Assistant Professor. This includes potential for grant activity, publications, or service to the field.

Full-time employees are eligible to receive tuition waiver benefits, as well as dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado.
