Auto Body Technician
The primary responsibility of an Auto Body Technician is to provide a superior customer experience through meticulous vehicle repair. This involves thorough assessment and quality restoration of each vehicle to its pre-accident condition.
They play a pivotal role in maintaining the company's promise of speed, quality, and customer excellence, working collaboratively with team members to achieve repair facility KPIs.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Implement the WOW plan consistently.
- Plan necessary repairs, prepare cost estimates, and utilize tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers.
- Hammmer out minor body damage or mix and apply filler resins when necessary.
- Realign car chassis and frames for structural damage repair.
- Remove and replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts, repairing glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts.
- Weld and attach parts, preparing vehicles for repainting with factory-specified paint or equivalent.
- Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect repaired vehicles.
Education and/or Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of technical school program or 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read job orders and work independently.
- Ability to work effectively with other repairers.
- Thorough understanding of vehicle repair methods and procedures.
- Proficiency in using trade-specific tools.
Other Requirements:
- Must work safely in a noisy area with various odors.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Must visually inspect vehicle damage in diverse weather conditions.
- Must perform repairs and inspections while bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting.
