The Auto Body Technician plays a pivotal role in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition. This individual is responsible for assessing and repairing vehicles with exceptional quality, ensuring a successful customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan repair work, prepare cost estimates, and use various tools to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammers out dents, mixes filler resins, and realigns chassis and frames as needed.
- Remove damaged sections, replace with new or aftermarket parts, and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF TECHNICAL SCHOOL PROGRAM OR A 3-YEAR APPRENTICESHIP AS AN AUTO BODY REPAIRER.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of tool usage required for the trade.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
