Assistant Aquatics Director – Boys & Girls Club of Greater Billerica
Position Summary:
The Assistant Aquatics Director helps oversee the development, planning and operation of all aquatic programs here at The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Billerica. Programs include but are not limited to our competitive swim team, swim lessons for all ages (6 months to adult), lifeguarding of water aerobics and lap swims, and free swim & activities for BBGC members.
Essential Responsibilities:
Program:
- Performs a variety of administrative duties in the planning, development, and implementation of instructional, recreation and fitness classes as well as other aquatics programs, sports and special events.
- Membership engagement and development
- Responsible for the organization and implementation of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica’s swimming lesson program.
- Independently plan, develops, implements schedules, and supervises aquatics related instruction, summer camp, programs, swim team, and special events.
- Inventories, plans, and prepares supplies and equipment for classes, programs and special events.
- Prepares lesson plans, teaches existing programs, and learns and teaches new water activities.
- Assists in the supervision of students in lessons and completes level sheets and certificates for classes.
Management:
- Hiring, training and evaluation of staff.
- Supervises and motivates lifeguards, instructors, and coaching staff of competitive programs. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff.
- Plans and organizes staff schedules, workloads, and assignments.
- Conducts and coordinates training programs for lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors according to a prescribed curriculum.
- Coordinates staff in the development and implementation of aquatics programs.
- Uses excellent customer service skills communicates with parents & guardians of children about their progress, registration dates, cancellations & policies.
- Assists in preparing, updating, and distributing a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding aquatics programs
- With the approval of the Aquatics Director, has responsibility for assigned programs including canceling and rescheduling of classes, programs, and special events.
- Oversees the maintenance of the pool, including but not limited too pool chemistry, pool mechanics, climate control and cleanliness.
Education & Experience:
- College degree or comparable work experience
- At least 2 years of swim lesson & swim team coaching experience preferred
- Must have current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, and American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. (Or be willing to get certified within the first 6 months of hire).
- Must be willing to become a Certified Pool Operator.
- Proficient in computer use, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel & Google services.
- Excellent customer service skills, and efficient leadership skills.
- Available to work mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.

Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

- 8 hour shift
