The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson is accepting applications for a full-time Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will be a strategic partner, and report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas : finance, business planning and budgeting.

The CFO will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.

Requirements

  • Responsible for the day-to-day fiscal responsibilities of a non-profit organization, including supervision of the accounting staff.
  • Responsible for reconciling all Balance Sheet accounts monthly.
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project / program and grants accounting.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
  • Reconcile Payroll general ledger accounts and tax accounts.
  • Manage all accounting processes i.e., grant financial reporting, AR, AP and Payroll.
  • Manage the contracts management and financial management / reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  • Reconcile all Asset and liability accounts monthly.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices.
  • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.
  • Manage restricted net assets, endowments and temporarily restricted assets.
  • Manage Reserves and get proper approval for drawdowns during the year.
  • Update Policies and Procedures as needed.
  • Manage banking relations with the current banks and the investment accounts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA or Masters degree a plus.
  • Proven financial analysis skills.
  • Experience working with information technology and proficiency with software packages including MIP Abila, Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and management of an accounting team.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, clubhouse and administrative staff.
  • Ability to lead with a high degree of emotional intelligence and ethics.
  • Proven experience in a high functioning financial role.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field with major in Accounting.
  • Previous experience as a lead in a financial role within an organization, preferably non-profit.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience and education : equivalency required.
  • SCOPE OF WORK

  • Lead organizational accounting, audits, budgeting, and forecasting, and implementing financial policies and procedures.
  • In coordination with C-Suite, Executive Leadership Team and Board, develop, recommend, and execute strategies to support the organization's continued growth and financial sustainability.
  • Partner with Resource Development and program leadership to assess and implement revenue generation strategies.
  • Develop, direct, and provide financial analysis of the organization by evaluating trends, studying revenue opportunities, establishing critical measurements, accumulating resources, and resolving challenges.
  • Review short and long-term goals in consideration of existing and projected financial resource availability; plan financial operational strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identify monetary resources; and develop action plans in partnership with Executive Leadership Team members.
  • Drive best financial practices within the organization by publicizing standard operating procedures, keeping the Executive Leadership Team, Board, and staff current on financial status, and by generally serving as a point of reference for all growth plans and projects within the organization.
  • Ensure proper financial controls are in place and operational, and financial and compliance oversight is implemented for grants, contracts, and other key agreements in the organization; produce timely reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually) to monitor, evaluate and optimize financial health, cashflow and liquidity.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (banks, donors, vendors, outside consultants and others as needed) to closely monitor the organization's major expenditures and sources of revenue.
  • Oversee financial management of programs and overhead costs / indirect rates to ensure full financial recovery and achieve efficiency.
  • Monitor the operational cost effectiveness and provide recommendations for optimization of funding resources to ensure long term sustainable growth for the organization; analyze and make recommendations on the potential investment of organizational reserves; identify and harness available resources to maximize revenue streams.
