Salary
In 2025-2026, the total salary for this position ranges from $78,500 to $146,500 depending on years of full-time teaching experience.

Responsibilities Include
- teaching a full-time complement of instrumental music courses in the Lower, Middle, and Upper School
- leading chamber music ensembles, string sectionals, and supporting the Brearley orchestras
- participating in planning meetings on curriculum and pedagogy
- collaborating with departmental colleagues to organize assemblies and events
- creating arrangements for string ensembles of varying ages and ability
- managing the upkeep of instruments and equipment
- implementing an inclusive, anti-bias, and anti-racist pedagogy
- contributing to the life of the school and the students outside of the department
- have a bachelor’s degree in music; a degree in cello is preferred
- have three years of teaching experience with young people
- have experience or familiarity with the Kodály method, or a similar systemic pedagogy
- have experience across a variety of musical styles
- possess basic piano and music notation software skills
- demonstrate strong skills in communication
- demonstrate the desire to work collaboratively and in consultation
- have a commitment to the education of girls
- understand the needs of students at various levels of intellectual and social development
