POSITION SUMMARY

The function of the Education Facilitator is to provide leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of educational programs and use of clinical applications that foster staff development and enhance the quality and process of patient care. The Education facilitator possess a broad-based clinical and educational knowledge necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the educational process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting. He/she possesses expert knowledge in the utilization of electronic medical records, serving as a resource for BHA staff. The Education Facilitator has the responsibility for: collaborating with others in the facility to ensure that educational activities are based upon assessed learning competency needs of staff and trainees, workforce development and priorities identified by BHA. He/she is responsible for providing educational activities and products that are high quality, cost-effective, timely and follow principles of adult learning and customer service as well as improving service/organizational performance by evaluating, monitoring, and reporting program outcomes. The Education Facilitator serves as a primary liaison between physicians, clinical support staff in relation to education and training initiatives. The Education Facilitator is directly responsible to the Training & Development Manager who organizationally is aligned under the Chief Human Resources Officer.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Bachelor’s degree required with some clinical knowledge and work experience that correlate ability to critically understand training needs for new and existing clinical staff.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for data entry, collection, etc.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Capacity to analyze issues to resolve problems in an efficient manner

• Proficient in Electronic Medical Record

• Familiar with regulatory quality performance measures

• Travel may be required to facilitate collaboration across the BHA system

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assists learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes

• Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs

• Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation

• Partners with Executive Leadership and IT ensuring confidentiality and security policies are maintained.

• Plans, prepares, and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience.

• Adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate to the learner needs

• Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming

• Teaches content as needed and/or facilitates teaching with clinical staff to orient new staff,

staff development and/or safe practice

• Responds to identified needs of BHA to promote quality patient care and safety

• Maintain schedule of trainees

• Consults with staff regarding individual learning needs

• Responsible for maintaining an educational file on each clinical employee

• Maintains flexibility when managing multiple roles and responsibilities

• Ability to understand and educate on documentation to meet quality metrics and fulfill

BHA requirements

• In collaboration with Human Resources, Clinical and Administrative Management,

responsible for developing, maintaining, and assigning education to BHA staff

• Other Jobs as assigned

• Takes ownership and represents Brevard Health Alliance’s mission and organizational goals established by the executive committee. These include, but are not limited to: Productivity, Quality, Patient Satisfaction, and Employee Retention. It is the duty of each BHA employee to incorporate these goals into all daily work routines and strive to achieve and surpass all goals by working as a team. The mission and goals of BHA will be incorporated into each associate’s performance plan to be evaluated annually.
