Summary of Position:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Cake Bake Shop Kitchen Manager will have a passion for savory creations as well as lead the culinary team to ensure that the kitchen runs effectively, new hire training and execution within our locations to exceed our guest expectations. The Kitchen Manager must be knowledgeable in executing a savory kitchen and developing a well-organized line. You will be the culinary standards leader, coach and mentor and are critical to the consistent improvement of our culinary team. Our Kitchen Manager is responsible for controlling all labor and food costs targets in all retail locations by overseeing purchasing and inventory systems. The Kitchen Manager must be level headed, able to handle stress and be a strong strategic leader.


Kitchen Manager duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and directs all food preparation, from prep through service

  • Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of the guests in a timely manner.

  • Monitors kitchen staff to ensure proper recipe creation, proper portioning, and proper plating.

  • Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet company standards and health code regulations.

  • Responsible for maximizing the productivity of all kitchen staff

  • Evaluates food products to ensure that The Cake Bake Shop quality standards are consistently attained

  • Trains and develops the team on proper execution as well as personal development

  • Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors

  • Communicates and collaborates efficiently with the front of house managers to assist in a smooth service

  • Assists in the hiring and training of all new Savory, Prep and scullery employees and monitors their performance

  • Works closely with the Executive Chef & General Manager to maintain a budget on food costs and labor costs

  • Establishes, maintains, and controls food waste

  • Tracks, records, and maintains inventory stock including food, beverage, & kitchen supplies

  • Assists in executing shifts by being familiar with all stations

  • Creates a safe workplace for all the employees

  • Develops and trains back of house supervisors on the vision of The Cake Bake Shop while delegating daily tasks

  • Boosts restaurant’s overall profitability

  • Identifies any problems that arise in the kitchen and resolves them quickly

  • Other tasks and expectations will be assigned by the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Ops Manager when necessary


Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule with openings, closings, weekends and holidays

  • Experience in a Sous Chef or managerial kitchen position

  • ServeSafe certified

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and outstanding leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

    • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and document software.

Salary : $40,000 - $50,000
