What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer position at The Caler Group?
Responsible for creating basic to moderately complex engineering designs (drawings and specifications) involving site layout/development, site grading and drainage, water distribution systems, sanitary collection systems/lift stations, process piping, pavement designs, storm water infrastructure and storm water pollution prevention.
- Performs detailed calculations to support the design including hydraulics/hydrology, conduit sizing, retention basins, lift stations, and pavement.
- Performs site walk-downs as required to verify the survey and support the design.
- Reviews designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensures that the firms’ policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) specifications/requirements.
- Familiar with the required permitting related to Civil design.
- May attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff.
- Reviews the work of more junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert Knowledge of AutoDesk Civil 3D, experience using InfraWorks, Recap, NavisWorks and Civil design software including Storm & Sanitary Analysis, HydraFlow HydroGraphs & Storm Sewers.
Skills and Abilities
- Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Solid knowledge of engineer principles of design.
- Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
