Civil Engineer

Responsible for creating basic to moderately complex engineering designs (drawings and specifications) involving site layout/development, site grading and drainage, water distribution systems, sanitary collection systems/lift stations, process piping, pavement designs, storm water infrastructure and storm water pollution prevention.

• Performs detailed calculations to support the design including hydraulics/hydrology, conduit sizing, retention basins, lift stations, and pavement.
• Performs site walk-downs as required to verify the survey and support the design.
• Reviews designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensures that the firms’ policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) specifications/requirements.
• Familiar with the required permitting related to Civil design.
• May attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff.
• Reviews the work of more junior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert Knowledge of AutoDesk Civil 3D, experience using InfraWorks, Recap, NavisWorks and Civil design software including Storm & Sanitary Analysis, HydraFlow HydroGraphs & Storm Sewers.

Skills and Abilities

• Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Solid knowledge of engineer principles of design.
• Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
