The Cambridge School of Weston seeks a full-time Chemistry Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to teach a variety of science courses for grades 9 through 12. Courses will include introductory chemistry and upper-level chemistry classes, and additional courses based on interest and experience. Preference will be given to candidates whose experience will also allow them to teach introductory biology courses and to make connections across science disciplines in their teaching. The chemistry teacher will be a member of the Science department and report directly to the Science Department Chair. The position requires general knowledge of inorganic chemistry and applicable lab techniques and safety.
A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills; will value progressive, student-centered education; will demonstrate an ability to make strong connections with students; will be passionate about teaching creative students with a variety of learning styles in a boarding and day school environment; and will have experience in differentiating and working in multiple modalities. Applicants should be well-versed in culturally responsive teaching practices and be interested in further developing their cultural competencies and equity literacy skills. Essential Functions Of This Position Include
- Serve as a science teacher, teaching 12 blocks over the school year; the year is divided into six modules, meaning there will be two courses per module. Classes meet 4-5 days a week for 90 minutes. Courses will include several sections of Chemistry I and additional science courses based on experience.
- Contribute to the school with the equivalent of a teaching block through professional development and committee work.
- Plan, develop, and execute lessons that showcase innovation, creativity, and a passion for the art of teaching while also utilizing distinctive instructional approaches that best serve the students’ long-term interests.
- Utilize the lab safely and effectively to incorporate experimentation, observation, collaboration, and problem-solving into the learning experience.
- Evaluate each student’s ability to meet course standards in scientific knowledge and skills. Document and communicate progress to students, advisors, and guardians regarding academic progress.
- Participate in weekly departmental meetings, prepared to discuss student concerns, teaching pedagogy, and curriculum developments, and assist with departmental representation at school outreach events.
- Demonstrate a willingness and interest to learn and share new pedagogical techniques and develop specific curricular expertise.
- Read and stay abreast of current topics in science education and engage science teaching faculty in discussions of new perspectives.

- Bachelor of Arts or Science required.
- Relevant professional experience in education preferred.

- Participate in our PACE curriculum. PACE: Promoting Awareness and Community Engagement is a program designed to ensure that all students develop self-awareness, healthy living habits, and a sense of belonging, cultivating skills to create a more just and sustainable world. Classes meet once per week and are graded on a pass/fail basis.
- Participate in up to two alliance/affinity groups, student clubs, or committees.
- Chaperone two weekend activities each year to support our student life programming.
