Position Overview
The Intake Coordinator is the first point of contact for neighbors entering the Opportunity Center at The Caring Place. Under the direction of the Director of Case Management and in collaboration with the case management team, the Intake Coordinator greets neighbors at the door, completes registration and check-in, schedules appointments, and manages phone calls. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all neighbors and visitors feel cared for when they walk in the door, or when they call for assistance. This is a part-time, hourly position requiring 30 hours per week. Hours are Monday-Thursday 8:15am-4:15pm with a 30 min lunch break daily.
Duties Include
- Greet and screen neighbors who present for services either in-person or via phone/email
- Assist neighbors in scheduling and checking-in for showers and laundry services
- Collaborate with case management team for completing intake assessments and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Maintain excellent and up to date records of interactions
- Manage mail services for neighbors
- Maintain organization of files
- Monitor office supply needs and maintain adequate copies of all case management forms
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
- Train and supervise Opportunity Center volunteers
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) or related field preferred; High school diploma or GED Required.
Skills
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Work history with diverse populations
- Crisis intervention experience highly recommended
- Strong assessment/interviewing skills that demonstrates critical thought process
- Ability to problem-solve effectively and quickly
- Proficient with computer data base and word processing
- Skillful written and oral communication skills
- Effective organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to practice consistently with integrity, innovation, and initiative
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
