Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end coordination and execution of Carlyle’s annual tax compliance processes, ensuring accuracy and consistency across teams.
- Maintain and refresh compliance-related process documentation to support standardization and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between external tax advisors, PMO teams, and internal stakeholders to monitor timelines, manage deliverables, and resolve issues as they arise.
- Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of a compliance dashboard to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor the progress of deliverables.
- Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of investor tax documents via LP Connect, ensuring a robust reconciliation process is in place to verify all required documents are posted.
- Lead post-season debriefs with stakeholders to assess process effectiveness and incorporate feedback into actionable process enhancements.
Tax Technologies – 20%
- Partner with Global Technology Services (GTS) and Enterprise Process Operation Support (EPOS) to ensure technology is set up and integrated into annual tax compliance processes (i.e. LP Connect sweep, and demographic data automation).
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date process documentation for all investor-facing tax compliance tools, ensuring clarity and consistency across systems and teams.
- Act as the tax function owner for ShareFile and SharePoint platforms, managing permissions and ensuring all stakeholders—including external tax advisors—have appropriate access to required information.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and technology teams to design, test, and implement enhancements that increase automation, accuracy, and operational efficiency within the tax function.
Information Reporting and Withholding (IRW) – 20%
- Manage the annual scoping and entity review process in partnership with external advisors to ensure all entities with FATCA and CRS obligations are appropriately included.
- Support investor and entity-level due diligence and reporting processes under global information reporting regimes (e.g., FATCA, CRS), including review of workpapers and final reporting templates and deliverables.
- Contribute to the development and facilitation of firm-wide training and awareness initiatives related to IRW compliance.
- Maintain and enhance process documentation to reflect evolving regulatory requirements and drive continuous improvement in IRW processes.
Tax Notices / Refunds – 15%
- Own and manage the technology and workflow tools that support Carlyle’s tax notice and controversy process, including coordination with the mailroom to ensure timely tracking and logging of incoming notices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Notice Ninja platform, evaluating service offerings, coordinating enhancements, and ensuring the solution aligns with Carlyle’s operational and reporting needs.
- Ensure the timely delivery of clear, accurate management reports related to notices and audits, and escalate issues as needed.
- Lead the coordination of the tax refund tracking process, including refreshing the annual tracker, managing third-party vendor contributions, and maintaining process adherence and data accuracy.
Other – 5%
- Provide tax subject-matter expertise to broader finance, investor services, and technology teams.
- Lead or support strategic initiatives and special projects, including tax estimate calculations, technology implementations, audit preparation, and data reconciliation efforts.
- Assist with vendor relationship management, including invoice processing, budget tracking, tax contractor KPIs and statement of work (SOW) renewals.
- Review controls for Carlyle’s IRC. Sec. 1446(f) policies and assist with providing findings and updates to the teams, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- CPA, Masters of Tax, or MBA, preferred.
Professional Experience
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in tax operations, tax compliance, accounting, or financial systems, required
- Proven track record in project management and cross-functional process leadership.
- Experience in private equity, asset management, or financial services preferred.
- Working knowledge of FATCA, CRS, and U.S. tax compliance requirements strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with workflow tools as well as technology platforms such as Appian, Salesforce, is a plus.

Benefits/Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $130,000 to $140,000.
