Job Title: Dean of Academic Growth
Reports to: Principal
FTE/Classification: Full-Time, exempt
Summary of Responsibilities: The Dean of Academic Growth ensures student academic success by implementing research-based interventions, fostering positive teacher-student relationships, and maintaining key academic support resources. This role supports students, teachers, and families in navigating academic challenges and promoting a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Academic Interventions & Support:
- Develop and implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions based on best practices.
- Track student progress and adjust interventions as needed to ensure effectiveness.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate interventions into classroom instruction (Tier I).
- Schedule and run Tier II interventions, such as Saturday School.
- Maintain Tier III interventions, such as grade remediation on FLVS.
- Student & Family Engagement:
- Meet with students and parents to discuss academic concerns and support plans.
- Foster a growth mindset among students by promoting accountability and academic resilience.
- Guide individual and group sessions designed to improve study skills, executive functioning, and learning strategies.
- Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) & Relationship Building:
- Enhance SEL practices within the school to support student well-being and success.
- Partner with teachers to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Implement initiatives that strengthen student-teacher relationships and engagement.
- Resource Management:
- Maintain and expand academic resources, including after-school tutoring and SEL support.
- Oversee the academic portions of student support plans and ensure they are effectively implemented.
- Coordinate with external academic and SEL service providers like Frameworks and Catapult tutoring.
- Gradebook Analysis & Teacher Support:
- Regularly review gradebooks to identify trends, inconsistencies, and areas of concern.
- Create reports that guide intervention strategies
- Assist teachers in maintaining accurate and equitable grading practices.
- Provide professional development and coaching on assessment and intervention strategies.
- Scheduling & Academic Records:
- Create and modify student schedules to align with academic needs and interventions.
- Update and maintain student transcripts to reflect academic progress and achievements.
- Develop and ensure the deployment of teacher coverage schedules to maintain instructional continuity.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Use academic performance data to guide intervention strategies and measure success.
- Collaborate with the administration to ensure academic policies align with student needs.
- Monitor and report on academic growth initiatives to improve school-wide outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in education, school leadership, or a related field preferred.
- Preferred 3-5 years of instructional experience
- Experience in academic intervention, student support services, or curriculum development.
- Strong understanding of SEL principles and their impact on student success.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and teachers.
- Excellent organizational and data analysis skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Cristo Rey Tampa Salesian High School.
- Preferred Spanish proficiency
