JOB TITLE: Mental Health Therapist
SCHEDULE: Full-Time, 10-Month Employee, paid over 12-month period
JOB SUMMARY: The Mental Health Counselor contributes to the success of the Cristo Rey Tampa Counseling Department by collaborating with other clinicians and key school staff and administration to provide individual and group therapy to students and to implement systemic mental health interventions that contribute to the overall success and well-being of students and staff on campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB COMPETENCIES:

Individual mental health counseling: Provides high-quality, personalized clinical interventions to Cristo Rey Tampa High School students.

Assess all students at least once a year to identify initial and ongoing mental health concerns using the YOQ Questionnaire.

Collaborate with teachers and administration to collect referrals for students in need of clinical services throughout the year.

Establish treatment plans for identified students and provide therapy on a weekly, bimonthly, or monthly basis depending on students needs.

Create safety plans with students who are at risk of suicidal or self-harming behavior. Coordinate with local resources (St. Josephs Behavioral Health, GracePoint Wellness, and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay) when students require hospitalization/Baker Act.

Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical interventions and adjust measures and interventions on a semestral basis.

Communicate and meet with parents concerning students mental health concerns and progress as necessary.

Refer students to intensive outpatient therapy and connect them with proper case management services when in need of higher levels of care.

Group mental health counseling:

Provides high-quality group therapy to Cristo Rey Tampa High School Students.

Assess trends in the student body to identify needed clinical group interventions and topics of concern (i.e., grief & loss, social anxiety, self-esteem, healthy relationships)

Plan, implement and evaluate group interventions quarterly with various grade levels.

Systemic mental health interventions:

Provides macro-level interventions and training to support Cristo Rey Tampa High School students and staff.

Provide education and resources to teachers and staff to create a trauma-informed environment within the school setting.

Collaborate with the Success Team to provide clinical insight into new and ongoing initiatives within the realm of academics, restorative discipline, campus safety, and student life.

Provide education and assistance to faculty and staff with proper reporting of abuse and neglect to the FL Department of Children and Families.

Aid faculty and staff by connecting them with appropriate outside mental health resources for themselves and their families as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT preferred (equivalent registered interns welcome to apply).

2-5 years of clinical experience, preferably working with children and teens.

Spanish speaking is highly preferred but not mandatory.
