About the Role:
This position is responsible for scheduling and selecting modes of transportation, maintaining open communication with carriers and stakeholders, and coordinating daily shipments to meet department KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise between carriers and our organization to maintain open communication and hold vendors accountable for meeting service level agreements.
- Communicate transportation status to relevant stakeholders, including sales representatives, customers, vendors, and management.
- Determine loads using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and geographic knowledge, coordinate Overage, Shortage, Damage in transit (OS&D), and communicate disposition for OS&D incidents.
- Create and distribute weekly shipping reports, customer pickup schedules, and daily sales order reports, recommending schedule changes based on reports.
- Forecast, schedule, and track daily shipments, including shuttle coordination, and use production schedules to determine required daily capacity, making recommendations to resolve daily shipment problems.
- Facilitate and resolve issues with road breakdowns, accidents, weather delays, and route exceptions.
- Minimize freight costs by meeting department KPIs, including maximizing truck weights.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of Logistics experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor, and work well independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Three years of Logistics experience preferred.
