Psychiatry NP Fellowship

JOB SUMMARY This position provides intensive mentorship through The Community Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner Fellowship.  Fellows are provided with customized training in the Fellowships’ three competency domains: advanced clinical skills, practice grounded in nursing theory, and transition to the advanced practice role. These competencies are taught through mentorship, workshops, and group supervision. In addition to the education provided in the fellowship, Fellows are employed as staff NPs and maintain a caseload in the Community Mental Health setting. NP Fellows are mentored to take on more clinic responsibilities and leadership over the course of the fellowship year. By the end of the year, novice psych NPs will feel grounded in the basics of the advanced practice role and will have established a professional identity supportive of a successful career trajectory. JOB QUALIFICATIONS  Must have a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.  ANCC board certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, PMHNP .  Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in interdisciplinary team settings.   Must have an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the population served.  JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  Provides routine and emergency psychiatric evaluations and follow up care for agency clients/patients.   Utilizes evidenced based psychiatry and nursing practice: diagnostics, psychopharmacology, therapy appropriate to the setting.  Identifies professional learning curve and routinely engages in formal and/or informal clinical supervision appropriate to needs.  Maintains medical charts, records and documentation in accordance with standard nursing practice and agency policies. Effective and efficient documentation is completed daily.  Provides assistance and direction to agency staff in establishing treatment/service plans, as needed.   Knows and utilizes system resources. Identifies system limitations and problem solves to meet client needs. Maintains professional composure under stress. Juggles conflicting demands. Manages conflict and delegates appropriately.  Adheres to established policies and procedures.   Consults with internal and external sources.  Performs other duties as required.
