What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Inspector position at The Champion GSE Company, LLC?
Champion GSE has been a supplier to the defense and aerospace industries of reusable, metal storage and transportation containers for over 60 years. We are currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector that has manufacturing experience in those industries to help us continue meeting our customer expectations. This person will inspect multiple machined products daily and report the findings to the Technical Support Engineer. This person will also consistently utilize many hand inspection tools (caliper, micrometer, gauges, etc) and visual inspection.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Generate the tools' inspection plans based on the manufacturing drawings.
2. Ensure incoming goods' dimensional conformity to drawing using all metrology equipment
3. Records observations using the quality control forms in place in our ERP.
4. Make recommendations for improving processes and products using non-conformity forms.
5. Perform incoming inspection based on documentary QC file (Material, HT, coatings, test and calibration certificates)
6. Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.
7. Establish the testing requirements for the Tools Assembly Department, if necessary.
8. Issue and validate certificate of conformity.
9. When nonconformities are identified, establish and follow up on curative and preventive action in coordination with the engineering team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Experience in a metal manufacturing environment.
· Must be able to read and understand mechanical and technical drawings and their BOM.
· Knowledge in metrology (GD&T), proven experience defining the measurement method based on drawing dimensional and geometrical requirements working with calipers, micrometers, FARO Arm, etc.
· Good problem-solving skills involving mechanical repair.
· English language.
COMPETENCIES
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering or related field is a plus.
· Experience in Quality Control functions in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office
