Community Support Specialist - Tennessee
Charles Lea Center is looking to hire a full-time Community Support Specialist.
The Community Support Specialist earns a competitive hourly wage of 16.00/HR.
Community Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Director of Supportive Living with the focus of health and safety management in an individual's home and implementation of individual's service goals. As a Community Support Specialist, you will support people to live more effectively and meaningful lives by supporting them to secure nontraditional services that encompass a combination of staff support. This includes residential, employment, and community support. Key areas include assessing the needs, wants, and goals for all aspects of life for the persons supported and monitor and advocate for services accordingly for the individuals we support with disabilities and special needs and connect individuals to needed services. We are looking for Community Support Specialist to help us develop and implement a unique and new service in Tennessee designed to help young adults in the communities where they live, learn, work, and play. Using a unique approach built around person centered, employment first, and technology first thinking. We are looking for Community Support Specialist grounded in person centered thinking, who can foster a creative and forward-thinking approach to providing services in Tennessee.
The Charles Lea Center is a CQL accredited organization that is based in Spartanburg South Carolina and provides services in South Carolina, and North Carolina and recently was awarded a contract with the Tennessee Department Disability and Aging (DDA) to provide services in their State. QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire
- Valid driver's license
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or General Equivalent with Two (2) years' experience working with persons with Intellectual Development Disabilities (Preferred)

A DAY AS THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT SPECIALIST:
- As the Community Support Specialist, you will work jointly with all support areas and departments to support people through ensuring homes are operated and maintained within the expectations of CLC.
- Provide intervention, assistance, and support for hospitalizations, injuries, death, and abuse, critical, and other emergencies deemed necessary.
- Prepare meals based on established menus, taking into account each individual's diet, health, and physical needs.
- Support individuals to ensure they are clean, groomed, and dressed appropriately.
- Responsible for daily activities of facility as scheduled by individuals and staff. Ensuring individuals are active in their communities.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Follow the Standards, regulations required by Tennessee Department Disability and Aging (DDA).
