Cboe is seeking a Chief Legal Officer (CLO) for our North American Securities business, reporting to our EVP, General Counsel. The CLO will lead the legal operations for Cboe's six U.S. securities exchanges and Canadian subsidiaries, providing strategic oversight and legal guidance. The CLO will manage a team of experienced attorneys, focused on compliance with securities and derivatives laws and regulations. This role involves engaging with regulators on rule changes, new business initiatives, and regulatory inspections, while offering legal support across various internal divisions, including derivatives, equity markets, technology, and data services.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Perform a combination of the functions listed below. Particular day-to-day functions may vary among certain of the following functions depending upon priorities at that time.
- Oversee and manage the legal needs of Cboe Global Markets' six U.S. securities exchanges, supported by a team of experienced attorneys.
- Oversee the legal services provided to Cboe Global Markets' Canadian subsidiaries, including the MATCHNow trading platform, by experienced in-country counsel.
- Manage relationships with regulators of Cboe's North American trading market businesses; engage with regulators on changes to exchange rules, new business initiatives, and other legal matters; manage legal support to compliance and regulatory functions relating to regulatory inspections and examinations and regulatory interpretations and guidance.
- Provide legal support and guidance to relevant internal divisions (including derivatives, equities, derivatives strategy, technology / operations and data and access solutions) regarding rules and applicable laws and regulations relating to the functions of Cboe's U.S. securities exchanges and Canadian subsidiaries.
- Support new North American trading market business initiatives and acquisitions with legal analysis, advice and other support.
- Work collaboratively with, and provide ongoing guidance, support and legal advice to, senior management and the boards of directors of Cboe's U.S. securities exchanges and Canadian subsidiaries.
- Advise and counsel Cboe's senior management team on complex and sensitive matters related to North American trading market regulation, as needed.
- Collaborate with senior members of the Legal Division, in-country counsel, and local and international Cboe business leaders related to the provision of legal support for the day-to-day North American securities business.
- Manage, coach and contribute to the professional development of a team of experienced attorneys covering various aspects of Cboe's North American securities business; ensure team delivers efficient and effective legal services.
- Serve as a senior member of the Cboe legal division, providing input, guidance and leadership on department goals, policies, activities and culture.
- Handle a number of other legal matters, which could include, among other things, providing legal support related to other Cboe product asset classes.
- Assist with various legal projects across the Legal Division and perform other duties as assigned.
Experience :
Minimum of 15 years of experience as a practicing attorney focused on securities or derivatives.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $280,500-$346,500 per year. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by actual work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
