The Chief of Staff at the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) will work directly with the CEO to support the smooth execution of the organization’s strategic priorities and day-to-day operations. This highly strategic role will ensure the CHA remains efficient, effective, and aligned with its mission to provide affordable housing and support community development. The Chief of Staff will act as a trusted executive advisor to the CEO, coordinate key initiatives, projects, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve the CHA’s goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to define and execute long-term strategies that support the CHA’s mission to provide affordable housing solutions.
- Ensure that organizational goals are prioritized, and progress is tracked, maintaining alignment across teams and projects.
- Help develop and execute the CHA’s annual planning process, guiding departments to align with the overall strategic vision.
Operational Efficiency:
- Streamline and improve operational processes within the CHA to enhance efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and support high-quality service delivery.
- Monitor and facilitate the execution of key projects and initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
- Identify and address operational issues, ensuring the CHA functions optimally to serve its communities and residents.
CEO Support and Liaison:
- Act as the primary liaison between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and timely decision-making.
- Prepare the CEO for meetings, presentations, and community events, ensuring they have all necessary materials and background information.
- Provide strategic support to the CEO in matters relating to policy, operational challenges, and key community issues.
Leadership and Team Collaboration:
- Serve as a key advisor to the CHA leadership team, facilitating coordination and collaboration across departments.
- Support senior leaders in managing priorities, resolving issues, and ensuring the CHA’s strategic goals are being met.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and performance across the CHA.
Internal and External Relationships:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including local government officials, community organizations, and partners in affordable housing.
- Represent the CEO at meetings and public events, ensuring the CHA's priorities are communicated effectively.
- Help manage sensitive matters and communications, maintaining discretion and professionalism at all times.
Special Projects:
- Lead and manage special initiatives related to organizational development, affordable housing projects, and community partnerships.
- Support the CEO in addressing key organizational challenges and ensuring long-term sustainability for CHA programs.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or a related field. Master's degree in Public Administration, Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years in senior management roles within public sector organizations, nonprofits, or housing authorities.
- Strong experience in managing cross-functional teams, overseeing operations, and supporting senior leadership.
- Knowledge of affordable housing policies, community engagement, and public sector operations.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to handle complex situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Proven track record in driving strategic initiatives, managing projects, and working with diverse stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

Compensation and Benefits
- $200,000 - $210,000
